Until recently this temporary immersible car was a submerged obstacle in the dirty, polluted waters of the Pierrefonds boulevard “lake” part of the Rivière-des-Prairies, the overflowing back river branch of the mighty Saint Lawrence river that straddles the Island of Montreal.
Apparently, this car was abandoned when quick rising river water flooded this area, probably because it stalled before the owner could make it onto the curb, which also ended up under the water.
I took this picture this afternoon after walking for about half hour from Sources boulevard, a main road running north-south located considerably east of this scene past that distant police car on the far left and which is higher ground.
The good news is, in this part of Pierrefonds boulevard, water has receded a lot compared to last Sunday when water covered the road up to where that other distant police car is parked, at the traffic lights, blocking any unauthorized vehicles heading towards this still flooded area.
Additionally, I also noticed municipal work crews running gas-powered, heavy-duty, industrial pumps draining water from people’s backyards onto the boulevard, where it emptied into the sewer system that seems to still function despite the lake at this end.
As I walked back towards Sources boulevard I overheard people, some depicted in this picture, excitedly talking about when they would throw a party in gratitude for all the help they gave each other as neighbors during this disaster encouraging one another for what awaits them next after this is all over.
As of this post Montreal still remains under a state of emergency that is expected to last perhaps, for weeks meanwhile, a similar status exists in other parts of the province of Quebec, where things according to news reports, are really dire in some places.
This is my contribution for WP single word prompt:”Temporary”.
Government unpreparedness exposed in light of the “flood of the century” now happening in Montreal and elsewhere in Quebec and Ontario in numerous municipalities bordering along the Saint Lawrence and Ottawa rivers and their branches.
Floods happen yearly in certain low-lying areas and flood zones already known by the federal and provincial governments however, the disaster now unfolding clearly shows that our politicians hate planning.
They are reluctant to stick their neck out lest they would be criticized for it by the voracious, scandal-seeking mass media and their citizens moreover, it may also cost some of the tax loot they’ve collected and horde for their own schemes.
Further, there are less photo-ops available compared to when a flood actually happens, and being visible in a media scrum on TV answering prearranged, select questions makes good news building up an image of honesty, confidence, and competence especially if this happens just before a coming election.
They rather initially wait quietly in the background until no other option is available before reacting heck, actually planning for the future regarding possible unforeseen, unfortunate, events that mother nature regularly and randomly pulls out of her magic hat is dangerous waiting seems much better, moreover, politicians are already adept at deflecting blame because they know that time is on their side when they delay answering “hot” issues.
As time passes public anger mellows out as people try to carry on with their lives and start to forget about their material losses, homes, and businesses meanwhile, governments change and politicians busily rearrange the deck chairs on the sinking Titanic some disappearing from public view settling into their comfortable, gold-plated, pensions.
Politicians are however, very quick to usurp $$billions in taxpayers money through various “climate change” schemes like “carbon taxes”, “sustainability”, or “green technologies” scams.
They attend and gather at events like the famous Paris Accord or the earlier Helsinki Conference, arriving on large gas guzzling jet aircraft and being ferried to their luxurious 5 star hotels, fed, and entertained at exclusive restaurants and nightclubs all on taxpayers’ dime.
Afterwards, $$billions in taxpayer’s money is very generously “donated”, distributed to international cronies and allies under disguise of allegedly helping poor developing countries meanwhile, thousands at home remain homeless uncared for.
The flooding happening now certainly was unforeseen and unimagined however, a national emergency contingency plan or set of plans should have been in place and triggered the moment it happened saving a lots of property and easing the massive disruption of affected hard-working taxpayer’s lives.
What we’ve seen is a type of knee-jerk, delayed, reluctant, reaction taking up lots of valuable time before the collective political brain trust kicked in, despite what already happened in Calgary in 2013 and Fort McMurry last year, expensive disasters it seems no lessons learned from.
In the next few weeks the flood situation in Quebec and Ontario will end however, the damage done to people’s lives will endure for years just as it has with all previously mentioned disasters meanwhile, an accounting will take place or should, hopefully taking into account this inexcusable, delayed, reactive face-saving exercise by our governments.

The stop booth across from the borough municipal library stands empty because bus service is none instead polluted flood water flows by along swamped Pierrefonds boulevard in this photo taken yesterday Sunday, May, 7th.
The bus stop booth remains an “island” in the dirty water of a vast lake formed when the Rivière-des-Prairies overflowed when last weeks incessant spring rains raised the level of the nearby river.
I took this zoomed in picture on rue Richmond (street) which is about two full blocks east from Saint Jean boulevard and runs parallel to it after walking to the water’s edge and looked across the Pierrefonds boulevard “lake” finding this lonely bus stop.
This image compliments and follows my earlier post also showing the flood scene presently happening in the borough of Pierrefonds on Pierrefonds boulevard, a main street traversing it running almost parallel with the Rivière-des-Prairies back river at fork of the mighty Saint Lawrence river straddling the Montreal Island.

Many affected harbor bitter a memory about how slow authorities reacted initially to the need for pre-emptive, preventative work by blue-collar work crews, lack of prepared sandbags in municipal depots for emergencies like this one, and especially being very late in calling for military help.
Victims who already lost their homes have a genuine reason to feel angry for their devastating loss despite reluctantly acknowledging their very own fault having houses in known flood zones.
Overwhelmingly they feel the government let them down in not intervening quicker, declaring an emergency as things unfolded, and calling in the army earlier to help out.
Today anyone can speculate about what could have, should have, been done now after so much flooding because sandbags were not prepared, delivered early, and placed to prevent water inundation in homes however, looking at the big picture it seems obvious initial inertia by politicians at all levels of government certainly contributed substantially to what happened.
Many regions continue to remain on flood alert as rain continues to fall on saturated ground while rivers around Quebec and Ontario already reaching dangerously high levels and flooding most low-lying areas may finally begin to subside perhaps, by the middle of this week if the rain actually stops.
More rain is forecasted however, that is yet to be seen because this last weekend, ending yesterday, gave everyone a bit of respite when a tiny amount of sun peered through the heavy cloud cover buffeted by gusty cool winds and the rain stopped.
Monday, May 8, 2017 is overcast with ice crystals falling at times, this is not a huge amount of rain in whatever form it comes down however, because it will be falling on very saturated land even relatively small amounts could cause more problems.
My picture taken yesterday, Sunday, May 7th depicts flooded Pierrefonds boulevard, the place looks like a scene taken at water’s edge of Riviere-des-Prairies, the back river nearby (about a block or two away from the boulevard) that has overflowed causing this flood.
I took this long distance digital image from a hill on rue René-Émard (street) overlooking the scene, this is a street which runs north-south parallel with boulevard Saint Jean, a main street about one block further west also underwater at its junction with Pierrefonds boulevard.
What you see at the horizon is part of Pierrefonds municipal garage and warehouse behind a light gray colored sheet metal corrugated fence bordered by trees on right and flooded Pierrefonds boulevard running past both with two half-submerged parked cars a bit in the foreground.
The borough of Pierrefonds is in Montreal’s West Island and Pierrefonds boulevard is a main street running east to west for about 9.3 km skirting the northern edge of the Island.
Even before this picture was taken Montreal’s municipal authorities and the Quebec and Canadian governments have declared a state of emergency allowing all measures and resources like military assistance, needed to be employed, they expect it to last past next weekend when things should improve.

The “He Lied Only Once” medal to be introduced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau awarded to its first ever worthy recipient, Canada’s Minister of Defense Harjit Singh Sajjan.
Canada’s Parliament anxiously awaits announcement by the Prime Minister on the new award to be awarded today then again, maybe tomorrow when the outside weather is sunny.
It is an exclusive award given only to a select very few, honorable, politicians deemed meritorious enough in distinguishing themselves publicly skillfully bending the truth..hmm then again, maybe not skillfully, and doing it only once, just that one time!
Commended with coolly maintaining a calm voice and composure when first asked about the breaking news story by reporters and maintaining it until overwhelming evidence and mass media fueled public anger forces him to admit the real truth about his bragging that he was the architect of famous “Operation Medusa” in Afghanistan.
The new Trudeau Liberal government since assuming political power, has taken great efforts to distinguish itself from other previous, past, Canadian governments during the country’s long 175 year history, trying or at least claiming to try to fulfill their hurriedly made up pre-election promises to be different in running the economy, social programs, international relations and trade, and maintaining Canada’s defense commitments at home and abroad.
Since their first days after being elected, the Justin Trudeau Liberals have also showed Canadians their complete disregard spending our hard-earned tax money quickly even before they tabled their first government budget or had Parliament’s approval to emptying the Canada’s treasury of CDN$2.25 Billions to feed the international Climate Change fund signing the money over during the famous Paris Agreement to allegedly save our planet.
This was accomplished despite Trudeau’s and his finance minister Bill Morneau’s pre-election promise to run a “small” deficit of only CDN$10 Billions during their first mandate as government but only after tabling their first ever budget moreover, the Liberal’s also promised complete “transparency” once they assumed power.
The new re-minted Liberals also showed us they were just the same old corrupt Liberals keeping a straight face flying to Paris on large gas guzzling Airbus aircraft piloted by the Canadian Military afterwards, being transported from Charles deGaule Airport to their luxury 5 star hotels on large expensive limos.
While attending the Climate Change Conference they enjoyed without any hesitation or second thought for financially strapped and struggling taxpayers, first class, expensive, extravagant meals, fine wines, special cute deserts and entertainment at exclusive Chez Maurice on Canadian taxpayers’ dime.
According to press reports, the Trudeau Liberal government has however, been very sensitive to policy leaks about their PMO(Prime Minister’s Office) and the Party’s plans in sharing Canada’s national wealth and resources with their backroom international financiers, close friends, and other cronies.
Take for example, Canada’s national defense and the very recent story about the ongoing RCMP investigation of alleged leak originating with Vice-Admiral Norman regarding a badly needed long-delayed replacement of a navy supply ship reluctantly awarded to Davey Shipyards in Levy, Quebec because of the extensive news exposure this story got regarding the mega-rich Irving family’s behind the scenes influence with the Liberals through Treasury Board President Minister Scott Brison and others trying to scuttle the already agreed upon and signed Davey deal.
The previous Harper Conservative government after much consultation, debate, and delay coupled with budgetary foresight already decided that Davey was the best deal for Canada meanwhile, rejecting a similar unsatisfactory bid from the other competitor, the Irvings.
This important scandal follows the scrapping of the F-35 aircraft order, instead buying cheaper, near obsolete, Boeing Super Hornets after former Liberal PM Chretien initiated participation in the development program and Canadian taxpayers sent millions on it as future replacement for the now obsolete F-18 warplanes Canada is still flying.
The Liberal government buying the F-18 Super Hornets saying these will do to save Canadians money reminds us when Jean Chretien also tried to save money buying those six famed, derelict, ex-British Navy diesel submarines mothballed in some Scottish port for a “bargain price”.
These “bijouxs” ended up costing taxpayers ‘mucho dinero’, being a very expensive problem from day one and claimed at least one Canadian sailor’s life even before getting to Canada.
The latest info says that just one still functions after millions and much time spent post the famous deal however, this albatross operates just barely with very limited ability while another is just a simulator, the rest have probably been rendered for the smelters.
That written about here does not include multi-millions or billions spent on the new immigration saga, fancy Trudeau family vacation trips, cabinet minister junkets, flip-flops on economy and finances, second thoughts on pipelines, and miscellaneous things or even that other famous skeleton in closet, Jean Chretien’s scrapping of the EH-101 military helicopter deal costing hundreds of millions..hmm did I miss something else, oh well that was long ago!
Today’s Liberals follow the fine traditions set by past previous Liberal governments in bending the truth and saving Canadian taxpayers money meanwhile, helping themselves, their backroom boys, bagmen, cronies, and international financiers to Canada’s treasury.
Everybody has fulfilled their wildest financial dreams while in power feeding at the public trough to their heart’s content while real control of Canada’s economy and right to print its own money ceded over to international banks by the first Trudeau Liberal regime in the 1970’s.
Once again Canadians acknowledge and praise our great, new, fearless leader Justin Trudeau for his good looks, social grace, sacrifice, humility, just thinking, and sheer fortitude in fending off mounting public criticism to award recipient Minister Sajjan this new medal symbolizing the minister’s outstanding ability to lie just once afterwards, tearfully and contritely admit the error of his judgement, his mistake, to Canadians.
On Thursday morning, February 20, 2014, Maidan protestors were martyred by professional killers with ruthless efficiency.
It was a little after 9AM when Berkut police snipers loyal to Moscow and Viktor Yanukouvych went about destroying lives of anyone on the street.
No one has been jailed for the killings of more than 100 protesters , dozens of suspects fled to Russia meanwhile, the Kiev government until now has failed to provide a full report on the Maidan tragedy.
Many average, ordinary, Ukrainians remain frustrated over this and it is only the protracted war with Russia in the eastern part of the country that has kept them pre-occupied and off the streets in Kiev to demand justice.
To add insult and more injury to the memory of those innocent Maidan dead we have a Moscow agent of influence, an Ottawa professor, disseminating “fake news” about it.
This fraud, a “sleeper”(deep cover intelligence agent re-animated when needed) carefully established his cover many years ago for just such a role at the University of Ottawa .
He has posted an “investigative” report on multiple media sites and even has a Youtube video lying about this massacre. No doubt Putin’s FSB(KGB) recruited him for this disinformation job something Moscow is an established world expert in.
As proof take for example, the Air Malaysia MH 17 civilian aircraft shoot down killing 298 people, where falsification of truth by Moscow fielded numerous “real” stories and theories about what happened and they still persist in denying their responsibility even to this day.
Putin’s Russia today is better equipped than the USSR ever was because of modern technology available allowing their organized Internet hackers and RT(Russian Television) to beam slick propaganda into North American homes which is very easy and profitable for the Kremlin.
On February 20, 2014 deposed President Viktor Yanukouvych ordered his special “Berkut” police to shoot any and all protestors dead which they did, slaughtering over 100 helpless, unarmed people on Institutska Street.
My video is a mashup of this history and events leading up to this massacre of innocent people by the pro-Russian government near Kiev’s Independence Square known as “Maidan Nezalezhnosti” or simply Maidan.
According to a recent news report found on the Internet , there really is an ongoing investigation to find the perps involved to bring to justice and provide closure to this tragedy.
Yury Lutsenko, Ukraine’s prosecutor general, said whoever hid the murder weapons also arranged exit of the fleeing Berkut policemen out of Kiev.
Discarded weapons including a sniper gun with scope and numerous Kalashnikov assault rifles were found by investigators allowing the names of the suspects be known. Their names remain under wraps for now until the investigation is concluded.

Elicit emotion about the events that happened this day 53 years ago on a beautiful, sunny, warm day in Dallas, Texas still remains despite the passage of time.
It was a Friday afternoon when news of the tragedy hit the airwaves that there had been an incident and that it involved the president of the United States, John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
As the hours passed more and more information was filtering through and everybody learned that they shot Kennedy and he was taken to the nearest available authorized hospital then later they announced that he had passed away leaving everybody in the state of shock.
All television programs and radio seemed frozen in time because the only news that everybody was discussing was the assassination.
What we got was the who, how, what, and when that the media pundits and talking heads repeated over and over again giving very little new information to a very anxious local and global audience trying to absorb and understand it all.
One thing that everybody came to realize quickly was that the world we knew had suddenly and irrevocably changed and there was no going back.

In 2018 Montrealers to realize some new (perhaps “sustained”) infrastructure called the new Champlain Bridge after Canadian taxpayers spend a colossal pile of money.
That this had to happen just proves shoddy work on the original one built in 1950’s while another bridge, the Victoria, remains in excellent shape after over a century.
Pictured is a partial view of construction going on next to the original Champlain Bridge, I took this picture from a moving minivan’s open side door window while a passenger on our way into Montreal seen in the foreground.
The Victoria, originally a railroad bridge later converted to supporting both rail and vehicular traffic opened in August 25, 1860 for the Canadian National Railway was named the Victoria Jubilee Bridge.
The bridge is a Canadian historic site being the first to span the St. Lawrence River joining Montreal with south shore Saint Lambert and it cost $6,600,000 to construct.
The Champlain bridge started in 1957 opened on June 28, 1962 at a cost of $52,000,000 and it will be torn down when the new one presently being built is completed costing taxpayers a mere $4,000,000,000 dollars and change hopefully it lasts longer than 56 years!

Let’s pretend new US president Hillary Clinton’s first action is an executive order scrapping the present abortion law.
Since we are pretending, let’s also congratulate the Clintons becoming new grandparents (see picture) to their daughter Chelsea’s new baby certainly a very happy occasion where everybody appears extremely pleased.
There is however, a caveat shown in the same big picture, that innocent discarded unknown unborn American baby, who will never experience love from its mother, father, siblings, or grandparents perhaps it’s because they are poor unlike the Clintons who are famous and wealthy.
Everyday masses of unborn are terminated and treated like unwanted biological waste because it is expedient and allowed by a law created and passed by some cold, calculating US government bureaucratic minions obeying their Wall Street financial masters orders.
The figures are staggering, approximately 55,000,000 abortions since 1970 when it became US law.
It is also interesting that African-Americans lead the nation in babies lost to abortions yet they continue an almost overwhelming support of the Democrat Party whose Bill Clinton vetoed Congress twice allowing present version of this law.

Definitely open-minded Hillary Clinton, her aids, and legal team hoped “sanitizing” an alleged thirty thousand “personal” E-mails wouldn’t leave a money trail if they used BleachBit, an open-source tool, instead of some expensive paid-for proprietary “scrubbing” software for their clandestine operation.
What she and her team hoped was ridding any and all incriminating evidence before her running in the US presidential elections.
They certainly wiped the data clean, so thoroughly scrubbed that “even God can’t read them” however, Americans found out about the cover up because of a leak to media, the worst since the Nixon tapes.
What is more disturbing about it all, is that nobody from the FBI contacted Andrew Ziem, the creator of BleachBit, at any point during a year-long investigation into Clinton’s private email use, despite FBI agents knowing that Clinton downloaded the software to hide her Email destruction.
Mr. Ziem also revealed during a FOX Business Network interview that despite the emails permanently deleted from Clinton’s server (computer) they may still be found on third-party servers from which they can be retrieved by a diligent, resourceful, investigation team.
