After being betrayed by Judas Iscariot, one of the apostles, a Pharisee organized armed mob seized and brought Jesus in front of high priests synagogue leaders, who viciously interrogated then condemned and delivered Him in front of Roman governor Pilate on trumped-up charges.
The Pharisees leading an armed, frenzied, blood thirsty, mob blackmailed Pilate, the Roman governor coercing him to condemn Jesus to death on cross along with other common criminals.
Before dying on cross Jesus endured being beaten, scourged, made fun of by being dressed up as king of the Jews with a red cloth cloak then crowned with thorns afterwards, being spate on by brutal, laughing, mocking Roman soldiers.
Christ crucified on a Friday, nailed to a wooden cross, on which He finally died in agony afterwards, was taken down immediately for burial in the traditional Jewish way in cave-crypt.
My picture depicts His mother, Mary, lovingly looking on her dead, tortured, son lying on ground after removal from cross meanwhile, two angels remain on guard at opposite ends.
The angels were added in the scene to indicate Christ was the Son of God, whose Heavenly guardians are legions of loyal angels.
Jesus Christ let His betrayal and crucifixion happen to fulfill God’s prophesy to man regarding saving our immortal souls from sin while living in our.increasingly wicked world.
Our predicament, original sin, is Adam and Eve’s legacy, both were conned by the serpent (devil) to betray God by eating the Garden of Eden forbidden fruit.
The scene is Montreal’s Notre-Dame-de-Neiges cemetery where this bronze rests on granite monument of a wealthy family grave site.
