Overcast, rainy, wet, weather on Pentecost Sunday doesn’t stop solemn ceremony in historical huge Notre Dame-des-Neiges cemetery, in Ukrainian Catholic section.

Each year this solemn ceremony happens rain or shine to remember and honor all loved ones buried in this cemetery and also deceased relatives and family in the old country, Ukraine.

This is a religious ceremony where those in attendance pray for souls of their departed resting in this section of Notre Dames-des-Nieges cemetery, the final resting place for over one million Montrealers buried there(over one million served!) since its founding in 1854.

Notre-Dame-des-Neiges is the largest cemetery in Canada resting place for ordinary Montrealers as well as the famous including one founding father of Confederation, Thomas D’arcy McGee.

Others include twenty former Montreal mayors, at least one former premier of Quebec, artists, and sports personalities like Maurice “Rocket” Richard etc.

This is my contribution for WP single word prompt:”CEREMONY”.
