During last century rapid hauling of air transported, essential, goods required sturdy vehicles like this old Ford 3-ton truck because time was short and fuel expensive up in northern Canada.
Most goods, in fact all goods, required transport by specialized bush aircraft equipped with pontoons to land on lake water or even skis for the cold harsh winters since landings were on frozen water covered by snow.
This type of truck is simple yet robust with enough speed and was probably used during the early years of the twentieth century.
This image of Ford truck is from an exhibit at Canada Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa.
