Traditionally Christmas in North America is celebrated with big bird carve or more specifically, roast turkey sliced up and served along with various complimentary vegetables and red cranberry sauce.

Christmas is a Christian feast day celebration there are however, around the world numerous traditional dishes besides poultry meanwhile, in English Canada and the USA both originally British colonies the feast is celebrated with roast turkey.

Obviously, much of our bird (depicted) is already resting on family and guests dinner plates and more being carved up in case anybody wants seconds after enjoying their first allotment.

Turkeys were originally introduced to Europeans (Pilgrims) by American Indian traders during their first winter in North America and have become a staple since.

Today these birds show up at Thanksgiving and Christmas because they are plentiful and can be slaughtered without huge economic outlay moreover, they are usually big enough to feed multitudes.

This is my contribution for WP single word prompt:”CARVE”.
