Substandard door installation found in many major North American cities that creates hardship for
tenants, mostly poor people, during long Winter months living in cold climate.
The scene is a run down slum apartment house where cold has infiltrated between the steel “insulated” door and its frame requiring the anxious tenant hastily using clear plastic boxing tape as a temporary yet unsatisfactory solution.
Not shown in this picture is the stack of rags stuffed at bottom base of this door to further help solve keeping Winter out and feeble heat from inadequate, electric base heaters in.
Situations like this one are very common in low-income areas, where substandard, old multi-floor structures owned and controlled by slum lord corporations doing little or nothing to improve things unless forced by municipalities and courts.
This is my contribution for WP single word prompt:”SUBSTANDARD”.
