Unseen Rot

Unseen rot at juncture of stone fireplace wall and sloping roof.

Normally unseen rot is happening at the juncture of house’s stone fireplace wall and wood joists of sloping roof.

======================================================================================================
The normally unseen rot happening at the juncture of this house’s stone fireplace wall and wood joists of its roof shows that there is a water infiltration problem that must be taken care of to prevent costly future repairs.

This photo taken years ago during a home inspection ordered by the owner before they put their home on the market.

Having that inspection gave  them good warning about the problem occurring they were not aware of and that may have cost them.

Wood rot is a common problem because of sometimes shoddy work of the building contractors or roofers that redo the original roof years later “cutting corners” by using substandard materials and unskilled labor to increase their profits at owners expense.

This is my contribution for WP single word prompt:”UNSEEN”.
