Metal scrap on roller skates stands on its pedestal just north of the old Montreal Museum of Fine Arts main building, on Avenue du Musée.
This collection of all sorts of scrap metal pieces, many former automotive components, fused together by arc welding. I appears to look like some sort of giant bird on roller skates. If you look at it from a distance it might be taken for an Emu, an Australian bird related to the Ostrich. They are the second-largest bird by height after their cousin the Ostrich.
This statue is an example of someone’s creative imagination using welding and refuse metal to make an abstract work of art. I took this picture when I photographed other outside exhibits near the museum during my famous Grand Prix Weekend shoot. My other pictures are found on this blog here.
